National Road Safety Week - May 15th to May 22nd is part of a campaign that supports the 2020 Stockholm Declaration. This declaration, adopted by governments internationally, calls for a focus on liveable streets and a maximum road travel speed of 30 km/h in built up areas. It is integral to the Decade of Action for Road Safety. Despite Covid, 2021 saw a 2.6 per cent increase in road fatalities in Australia. 1,123 people died on our roads and an estimated 40,000 people were hospitalised with serious injuries.
