May 3rd was proclaimed World Press Freedom Day the UN General Assembly in 1993 following a Recommendation adopted at the twenty-sixth session of UNESCO's General Conference in 1991.
It is a reminder that in dozens of countries around the world, publications are censored, fined, suspended and closed down, while journalists, editors and publishers are harassed, attacked, detained and even murdered. It is a time for thinking about the importance press freedom, and to assess the state of press freedom worldwide.
The COVID 19 pandemic has concerned us all.
Supporting and caring for others means more than just complying with the suggested health regulations set by the government. Stay calm in the face of information bombing and be cautious - only share content that is verified by reliable sources of information.
